Beschreibungen

This book covers studies on the systematics of plant taxa and will include general vegetational aspects and ecological characteristics of plant life at altitudes above 1000 m. from different parts of the world. This volume also addresses how upcoming climate change scenarios will impact high altitude plant life. It presents case studies from the most important mountainous areas like the Himalayas, Caucasus and South America covering the countries like Malaysia, Sri Lanka, India, Nepal, Pakistan, Kirghizia, Georgia, Russia,Turkey, Indonesia, Malaysia and the Americas. The book will serve as an invaluable resource source undergraduates, graduate students, and researchers.

This comprehensive work provides insight into problems related to ecosystem fragmentation, health and well-being of high-altitude ecosystems, ecosystem services for food and medicine, and the issue of invasive alien species. This research has been collected by the world's most respected experts in climate change and ecology from Turkey, Pakistan, South America, Malaysia, Nepal, Kirgizistan, Kazakistan, Georgia, Russia, Macedonia, Indonesia, and North America. These experts discuss ecosystem health and productivity, climate change, threats to high-altitude ecosystems, soils, and other limiting environmental factors at high altitudes. The data presented here covers some of the most important mountain ranges in the world, including the Himalayas, Andes, Altai, Tien-Shan, and Caucasus. Climate Change Impacts on High-Altitude Ecosystems focuses on improving our understanding on the effects of climate change on biodiversity and provides insight to young researchers on these fragile ecosystems for their future evaluation.

Describes the diversity of plants that exist over one thousand meters above sea-level Utilizes a variety of case studies, including examples from Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Russia, Indonesia, and more Addresses how future climate change scenarios will impact high-altitude ecosystems Includes supplementary material: sn.pub/extras
