Beschreibungen

This book contains of some of the papers presented in an international seminar on India-China Relations in the Contemporary Era: Opportunities, Obstacles and Outlooks, organised by the department of Political Science of the HNB Garhwal University, Srinagar, Garhwal, Uttarakhand (India). The papers compiled in this book largely focus on discussing and analysing the contours of India- China relationship in the present era. It is felt that in view of their hostile past the Opportunities, Obstacles and Outlooks in their relationship should be discussed to facilitate movement from hostility to a co-operative relationship. For a better understanding and comprehension the papers have been complied and divided into four sections. The first section takes a look at the conceptual issues, the second section on the bilateral issues, the third section on economic issues and the fourth section on the diverse issues like water, sea power, trade and space etc. Since in the contemporary era it is being assumed that the Asian growth momentum would depend upon how India and China conduct their relations with other Asian countries and how they manage their bilateral relations that are burdened with a hostile historical legacy therefore, the present volume aims to provide a direction and suggestions for the removal of impediments. In view of the content of the papers it is felt that this volume would be useful for the policy makers, academicians, scholars, students and the general reader.
