KENDREA FERNANDO

Kendreas book The Magic Mirror was awarded the 3rd place in Category A at The 2013 Tim Winton award for young writers.
Kendrea Fernando has been writing stories since she was
4 years. Her writing skills were recognised when she was
schooling at College Street Normal School, Palmerston
North, New Zealand. She wrote stories as part of her school work and most of them were awarded as the story of the day. Her reading and writing skills were enhanced and encouraged by her teachers at the Currambine Primary School and Beaumaris Primary Schools in Australia.

Kendrea was born in 2005 in Sri Lanka and now lives in Australia. Kendrea has stepped forward to help the McCusker Alzheimers Research Foundation WA, Australia to raise funds by donating a $1 per book from her book sales.

Kendrea is the youngest donator to The McCusker Alzheimers Research Foundation, in this scale. Her passion and the motivation to help the foundation is an example for all others. I am so pleased and happy that her book has been recognised and awarded the 3rd place in Category A at The 2013 Tim Winton award for the young writers. I wish her all, success. Kendrea was a pleasure to have as part of our English Enrichment Program. She always displayed an exceptional work ethic and the stories that she produced were entertaining
and very well written. It is very exciting to see her following her passion for writing and to have a book of her own published.
