Beschreibungen

This book offers readers essential insights into system design for deep space probes and describes key aspects such as system design, orbit design, telecommunication, GNC, thermal control, propulsion, aerobraking and scientific payload. Each chapter includes the basic principles, requirements analysis, procedures, equations and diagrams, as well as practical examples that will help readers to understand the research on each technology and the major concerns when it comes to developing deep space probes. An excellent reference resource for researchers and engineers interested in deep space exploration, it can also serve as a textbook for university students and those at institutes involved in aerospace.

Zezhou Sun, Doctoral supervisor, is a professor in deep space exploration at the Beijing Institute of Spacecraft System Engineering of the China Academy of Space Technology, the chief designer of Chang'e-4 and the Mars probes. He is mainly engaged in deep space exploration project demonstration, spacecraft overall design and other research work. He once presided over the project of "Chang'e-4" and successfully completed the first lunar soft landing and roving exploration  by a man-made probe. He is now in charge of the Mars exploration mission to be implemented in 2020 opportunity. He has won many awards, such as the special prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award and the National Defense Science and Technology Award. More than 20 core journal papers have been published.
