The Beggar- Set in post-revolutionary Cairo during Nasser's reign, this novel follows a young man, Omar, on his different attempts to give meaning to life. In the aftermath of the revolution, he loses a lot of his purpose and his drive. With both his family and his work slipping away from him, he turns to a series of love affairs to fill what seems to be an endless void.
