Late one night Danny Walters tucks his young son back into bed. He realizes the carpet is soaking wet just as he sees a man standing at the bottom of the stairs. The man lights a match. The house goes up in flames.
The next day, Detectives Tanzy and Byrd witness a horrific video posted online. Someone stood in the back garden filming as Danny and his whole family burned alive.
Across town, four women wake up in a dark, cold room. Every time they fall asleep, one of them is taken. People on the internet are paying good money to watch what happens to them.
Then Tanzy and Byrd get a sickening call. There's an unconscious woman balanced right on the edge of her fourth-floor balcony. Someone drugged her and put her up there. The detectives race to the scene, just as the woman's phone rings, waking her. She panics . . .

Chris was born in Darlington, North East of England. He loves spending time with his family which include his three sons. He enjoys walking on the beach, listening to music, going for the occasional run to keep fit, playing football, and coaching his son's football team.
When he's not at work and at home, he loves reading (crime), watching engineering and construction programs (he loves how things methodically fit together), likes to immerse himself in horror / supernatural films and series which make the hairs on his neck stand on end, satisfying his strange fixation for unusual escapism, and possesses a disturbing obsession with drinking far too much coffee to feed his writing habits.
His books include novels in the Darlington-based series with DI Max Byrd & DI Orion Tanzy, and his Manchester-based series, featuring his new detective, April Fisher.
