<p>Climate change has put the survival and</p><p>viability of wine-growing regions at risk. Whereas the implementation of sustainable</p><p>approaches was once seen as a source of competitive advantage, it is now critical</p><p>to the survival of the industry. Wine</p><p>tourism should therefore aim to minimize possible cultural and environmental</p><p>damage while improving the economic and social well-being of the wine-growing</p><p>region. </p><p><br></p><p>Contributing to the targets of SDG 8, specifically target 8.9: ‘By 2030,</p><p>devise and implement policies to promote sustainable tourism that creates jobs</p><p>and promotes local culture and products,’ this book argues that wine tourism can</p><p>be considered as a catalyst for the environmental sustainability of wineries. Chapters</p><p>highlight the economic, socioeconomic, environmental, socio-cultural impact of</p><p>wine tourism around the world, before concluding with a look to the future trends</p><p>and challenges. Itfeatures best practices from around the world that wineries</p><p>and wine tourism companies can incorporate into their core business functions</p><p>to make their operations more sustainable and also showcases how wineries have designed</p><p>their tourism offerings to meet sustainable tourism development objectives</p>

<p><strong>Javier Martínez Falcó</strong></p><p>(PhD) is Assistant Professor in the Department of Management at the University</p><p>of Alicante. His research expertise include the Strategic Management of the</p><p>Company, specifically in the areas of Knowledge Management and Corporate</p><p>Sustainability of wine companies, on which he has written several publications</p><p>in the form of articles, book chapters and contributions to conferences. </p><p><strong>Bartolomé Marco-Lajara</strong></p><p>(PhD) is Professor at the University of Alicante. He is the author of several</p><p>books, book chapters and international articles and is a member of the Tourism</p><p>Research Institute at the University of Alicante since its foundation as well</p><p>as the main researcher of the European project ‘Next Tourism Generation</p><p>Alliance’ at his University, as well as of the public competitive project for</p><p>the creation of the Tourist Observatory of the Valencian Community (Spain). He</p><p>has taken part in others public and private projects and is the Head of the</p><p>Department of Management at the University of Alicante.</p><p><strong>Eduardo Sánchez García</strong></p><p>works as Teaching and Research Staff in the Department of Business Organisation</p><p>at the University of Alicante, as an Assistant. He holds a PhD with</p><p>international mention in the area of Business, Economics and Society. His</p><p>research is in the field of strategic business management. In addition, he has</p><p>carried out several works in collaboration with other researchers specialised</p><p>in the study of industrial districts and entrepreneurial capabilities. He is a</p><p>member of the research group "Strategic Management, Knowledge and</p><p>Innovation in a Global Economy (DECI-GLOBAL)". He has published several</p><p>articles in indexed journals, as well as several book chapters, and has made</p><p>numerous presentations at national and international scientific conferences.He</p><p>teaches the subject of Strategic Management of the Company in the Degree in</p><p>Business Administration and Management, and the double degrees in TADE, DADE</p><p>and I2ADE.</p><p><b>Luis A. Millán-Tudela</b>&nbsp;is Assistant Professor in the Department of Management. His research focuses on<br></p><p>business longevity, and more specifically on the factors that influence the</p><p>survival of companies. This activity is developed within the research group</p><p>"Dirección Estratégica, conocimiento e innovación en una economía global</p><p>(DECI-GLOBAL)". He also teaches strategic management in the Degree of</p><p>Business Administration.</p><p><br></p>
As climate change continues to threaten the viability of wine regions, sustainable practices have become essential for the survival of the sector. In this context, wine tourism must minimize cultural and environmental damage while improving the economic and social well-being of the region.<p>In line with SDG 8, in particular target 8.9, this book argues that wine tourism can be considered as a catalyst for the environmental sustainability of wineries. <p><b>Bartolomé Marco-Lajara</b>, PhD, is a Professor at the University of Alicante. He is an accomplished author and researcher, affiliated with the Tourism Research Institute and has lead the 'Next Tourism Generation Alliance' and 'Tourist Observatory of the Valencian Community' projects. He is currently director of the Management Department and main researcher of the DECI-GLOBAL research group.</p>

<p><b>Eduardo Sánchez García</b>, PhD, is Assistant Professor at the Department of Business Management at the University of Alicante. He specializes in the study of industrial agglomeration, knowledge management and innovation, focusing on the energy sector and the wine industry.</p>

<p><b>Luis A. Millán-Tudela&nbsp;</b>is an Assistant Professor in the Management Department at the University of Alicante specializing in business longevity and the factors influencing company survival, working within the DECI-GLOBAL research group. He also teaches strategic management in the Business Administration program at his University.<strong></strong></p><p></p>
